Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre Reopening

Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre will be restored as a fully-fledged Arts Centre, consisting of original refurbished event hire and performance spaces, including The Assembly Hall, The Supper Room, The Council Chamber and The Committee Room.

There will also be several newly created spaces, including The Bulsara Room and The Rooftop with breathtaking views over Alexandra Palace and Crouch End. Smaller break-out and meeting rooms will also be available, The Members Room, The Mayor’s Parlour and The Green Rooms.

In addition to these spaces, the Arts Centre will also feature two dedicated coworking areas. The Gallery located on the ground floor will offer multiple hot desks and private office desks, and The Assembly Loft on the upper floor will have fixed desks, private office desks and several breakout areas for casual working.

Three independently operated restaurants will offer food and beverages across the Town Hall, including a community café, a rooftop bar and an event catering offer.

The Arts Centre will also feature a unique cinema experience with more information coming soon.

The public Square and Green at the front of the Town Hall will form part of the community offer. The space will always be accessible, with seasonal events and activities being programmed on the outdoor areas.

We aim to transform Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre into a space to create and socialise, with inspiring events, workspace areas and a vibrant programme of performances.

The Far East Consortium (FEC) is a leading international developer specialising in high-quality residential and mixed-use developments across mainland Europe and the UK.

The newly landscaped Square & Green is due to open imminently.

All events will be run under strict licensing conditions. There are decibel limits on the main performance space, The Assembly Hall, to make sure sound does not interfere with residential areas.

Community Access

The Arts Centre venture is being privately funded and is therefore not applicable for Arts Council funding.

Yes, the Community Use Agreement (CUA) that was brokered in the initial sale of the Town Hall to FEC ensures that Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre is completely free at the point of entry.

We will always ensure to offer affordable rates for community groups and users of the Town Hall, and we welcome conversations and engagement with interested groups and parties.

Spaces

The Green and Town Hall Square will be available for the community to use and enjoy all year round.

The Arts Centre’s management team will be curating a programme of community-orientated events, activities and festivals into the Town Hall Square from its reopening.

Yes, the Arts Centre team will be managing the main commercial kitchen and will be able to produce a variation of covers designed to your needs.

For large scale events, we will outsource the catering to TIME + SPACE partner caterers.

Events

Performances and events can be booked up to 18 months in advance.

For all recurring bookings, there will be a limit of three-month blocks that can be booked up to 3 months in advance. Recurring bookings can be renewed, subject to availability, to ensure the Arts Centre curates a diverse programme.

There is no limit to the number of bookings that can be made. However, we strive to provide a diverse event programme, so frequent recurring bookings may be reconsidered.

We will be publishing our six-month programme, three months in advance of it commencing.

Yes, The Council Chamber and The Committee Room are ideal for a wedding, with The Assembly Hall available for larger scale events and The Mayor’s Parlour for marital registrations.

The Supper Room serves as an ideal late-night space with extended licensable hours, which may also be used for other special occasions such as Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.

Information on wedding packages will be announced soon, though do not hesitate to get in touch to enquire about dates.

Workspace

Our redeveloped workspace offering, Hornsey Works, will host two dedicated workspace areas: The Gallery and The Assembly Loft. The Arts Centre will also provide multiple areas for informal working and socialising.

Members of Hornsey Works will benefit from a complimentary Social Membership. Our membership criteria are tailored towards those working within the creative industries, see below for the sectors included in our definition: Advertising, Media + PR, Architecture, Broadcast, Crafts, Design, Fashion, Film + TV, Museums + Galleries, Music, Performing Arts, Publishing, Software + Computer games, Visual Arts.

People working outside the above sectors are welcome to apply for a Social Membership, which provides access to the communal areas for informal working.

There will be multiple hot desks in The Gallery, 12 fixed desks in The Assembly Loft and 46 desks across 13 private offices in The Gallery and The Assembly Loft.

Workspace memberships start from £199 + VAT per month for a Lounge membership, to £299 + VAT per month for a House membership.

Studios memberships are priced at £399 + VAT per month in The Gallery and £499 + per month in The Assembly Loft. There will also be Drop-In rates available from £20 + VAT per day for access to hot-desking areas.

A Social Membership is a unique offer that unlocks an array of opportunities and discounts – for just £100 + VAT a year.Social members will be kept up to date with weekly emails, news updates announcing priority booking, upcoming events and competitions.

Town Hall Residents will be given a lifetime Social Membership for the duration of their residency at Hornsey Town Hall.

Social Memberships are non-transferable from the point of purchase but can be designated from landlord to tenants at the landlord’s discretion. Only original buyers will be issued a lifetime membership.

We are in the process of formulating a scheme to offer affordable workspace to local startups from across the borough of Haringey. Watch this space as more information will be provided soon.

Hospitality

Yes, there will be a small boutique hotel at the rear of the Town Hall operated by FEC’s new operating platform Dao by Dorsett.

There will be three independently operated restaurant units: one on the ground floor in the west wing of the Town Hall, one in the east wing and one adjacent to The Broadway, where Hornsey Exchange is currently based.

There will also be an onsite community café, serving visitors of the Town Hall, as well as bars in both the Bulsara Room (ground floor) and on The Rooftop (second floor).

There will also be a commercial kitchen which will provide bespoke catering to private and corporate events throughout the building.

Details of how these spaces will be operated will be announced in the coming months.

Hornsey Exchange

Hornsey Exchange comprises both The Hornsey Town Hall Arts Centre Marketing Suite (operated by TIME + SPACE) and the Hornsey Town Hall Residential Marketing Suite (operated by FEC and Savills).

Members of the community can arrange appointments to discuss and book potential hires and events at the Arts Centre, make a prepayment and join as a Workspace or Social member.

We will also be launching Hornsey Sounds, a monthly podcast and event series promoting the rich range of cultural and creative companies, groups, initiatives and individuals operating in Haringey.
