“The building was a progressive symbol of local government at its time. The building has since ceased its operations as a town hall, and has been used for music and theatre, yet was mostly waiting for investment. The interiors – the Ashton marble staircase, saucer chandeliers, Australian walnut and Indian laurel panelling and cork floors – show the decay of time, yet have been remarkably preserved like a time capsule.”

The Art Deco architecture is what makes @hthartscentre so special! Earlier this year we held the @ceopenstudios art exhibition here. When we reopen as the arts centre we plan to host many more events to make the most of the fantastic spaces available in the building.

The fictional Russian hotel Atlasov was mostly shot in the building - see if you recognise the location of any of any of these scenes (and check out series 1, episodes 6 and 7 for the full experience!) .
