CREATE

As the refurbishment of Hornsey Town Hall begins and the building heads into an exciting new era, TIME + SPACE Co, in collaboration with FEC were delighted to host CREATE on SATURDAY 6TH JULY.

Embracing the rich heritage of the building and offering a glimpse of what is to come in the future of the new Arts Centre, the event featured a FREE programme of music, a pop-up outdoor cinema, craft, poetry and dance workshops, virtual reality gaming, street food stalls and bars plus many more activities for the whole family.

“The building was a progressive symbol of local government at its time. The building has since ceased its operations as a town hall, and has been used for music and theatre, yet was mostly waiting for investment. The interiors – the Ashton marble staircase, saucer chandeliers, Australian walnut and Indian laurel panelling and cork floors – show the decay of time, yet have been remarkably preserved like a time capsule.”

The Art Deco architecture is what makes @hthartscentre so special! Earlier this year we held the @ceopenstudios art exhibition here. When we reopen as the arts centre we plan to host many more events to make the most of the fantastic spaces available in the building.

Did you know that Hornsey Town Hall was used as a filming location for the hit BBC drama @killingeve? The fictional Russian hotel Atlasov was mostly shot in the building - see if you recognise the location of any of any of these scenes (and check out series 1, episodes 6 and 7 for the full experience!) .
